One of my friends recently told me that she is addicted to the Time Life Music infomercials. “I love these Time Life Music collections. I want them all.” she Twitters. I forgot that I actually owned some of them from the 60s and 70s. She borrowed them, gave them back, and I uploaded them into iTunes. I then spent a Saturday afternoon cleaning and listening to seventies hits on shuffle. The Golden Boy wants to know why I know the words to all of these songs. Oh, only because AM radio was bombarded at me from a very early age.
I am a child of the 70s. Disco is normally the first thing to come to mind when thinking of music from that era. I almost forgot all of the other songs that are out there. I’ve decided to dedicate Saturday Seventies Flashback to those tunes.
Here’s a little ditty that had my son in hysterics. I totally remember this song and know all of the words. Back in the day, I obviously didn't give any thought to the fact that it might be considered politically incorrect. Was there even such a thing as being PC in the 70s? There’s no way this song would be played on the radio today.
I wish I knew how it was received at the time. Did people view it as a parody or did they take it seriously? Today there would probably be boycotts and marches.

OH MY HELL!! I totally rememebr that song... I have older brothers and sisters, and I was addicted to radio at a very young age because of their influence. I had favorites like Seasons in the Sun by Teryy Jacks...and Jerimiah was a bullfrog. Take me back 70's!
